You
are Invited to Enjoy the Charm and Beauty
of the Homes and History of Downtown Morehead City, North Carolina.
On
Saturday, May 21, 2005, ten private homes and gardens
in the historic Promise' Land area of Morehead City, North Carolina will
be open to the public. Both narrated tours and neighborhood history tours
will be offered between 10:00am and 5:00pm. This community
event is sponsored by the Downtown Morehead City Revitalization Association.
Enjoy
the nostalgia of “Old Morehead” as you visit these charming
homes. Come sit on the porches,
catch the breezes and watch the boats on the
Intracoastal Waterway. This year the Heritage facet has been added to
the Tour so that you can enjoy both the beauty of the homes and the history
of the land where they are located.
All the homes, whether turn of the century cottages
or newly renovated, capture the heritage and
history of the area. On the porches, as well as in
the back yards and parks, stories regaling earlier
times of the Promise’ Land will be told by very
special descendants of the neighborhood and
members of the community, enhancing the
experience of the Tour.
Other
places to visit in Morehead City, and well
within walking distance of the Tour, are the History
Place, the Curb Market and interesting downtown
shops that are offering a variety of promotions.
